| | The Borough of Wharton Health Department provides many services to the residents of Wharton at reduced rates, such as: free childhood immunizations, female and male cancer screenings, flu shots, and blood pressure screenings. To receive information on these programs please contact the Borough Nurse, Carol Miller, RN BSN, at 361-8444 ext. 15, she is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The Health Department is also responsible for the inspection of all the Retail Food Establishments and the enforcement of many State and Borough Codes. Your questions should be directed to the Borough Sanitarian, Matthew Zachok, at the same number above on Wednesdays or Friday mornings. The State Department would also like to remind you to have your pet vaccinated against rabies. Rabies is present in the State and all pets are required to be vaccinated. The Borough runs a free rabies clinic every February. We would like to remind you not to handle wild animals, if you and your pet do come in contact with a wild animal, contact your doctor or vet immediately. DOG/CAT LICENSING Any person who owns, keeps or harbors a dog over the age of six months, shall within ten days after he obtains possession of such dog/cat, apply for a license tag "and annually thereafter". This shall be done in the month of January. A delinquent fee of $5.00 per month per animal shall be added to a dog/cat renewal license, for license's issued five (5) working days after the current year's free rabies clinic. When applying for a license, please bring proof of current rabies vaccination and proof that the dog or cat is neutered or spayed. License Applications
