Mayor William J. Chegwidden

welcomes you to

the Borough of Wharton,

Morris County, New Jersey  Located in the heart of Morris County.

Wharton is a terrific town full of pride, tradition, and progress!

Happy New Year 2012!

Another year has passed, 2011 has gone into the history books and it is hard to believe that 2012 has arrived.  As I look back at the past year, it’s very important to thank my fellow council members, board members, volunteers and the town staff for the countless hours they contributed toward making Wharton a better place to live and enjoy.

This past year brought with it some unique challenges with Hurricane Irene and the Halloween Snow Storm.  It was during these events that our residents shined by showing that they were part of a community that cares for their neighbors.  That is what we are all about.  Neighbors helping neighbors.

Thank you for another outstanding year.  To all of our residents who volunteered and put in hundreds of hours on our boards, committees and other organizations in the town: Thank you! We couldn’t accomplish all that we did, and be the town we are, without your efforts. I know 2011 was a busy year for many of you, with numerous hearings and meetings, but you’ve made the town better.

And to all the residents who came forward to talk with all of us on various issues, one-on-one and at our public meetings: Thank you for all of your input. We represent you and need your thoughts and ideas to serve you better.

Please consider investing some of your time to your town.  Your help is appreciated with any of our community and government activities.  Call me to see how you can help.

A Happy and Healthy New Year to everyone
