Now Hiring DPW Laborer

The Borough of Wharton in Morris County is seeking a highly motivated, responsible, and well-rounded individual for a full time Laborer position in our Public Works department. Responsibilities include but are not limited to manual labor, waste collection, snow plowing, landscaping, maintenance, and water and sewer work. Experience operating light and heavy equipment and experience with water and sewer work are desirable, but not mandatory. Valid CDL is preferred. Candidates must be able to work on call 24/7 during emergency situations. This position includes competitive health benefits, NJ pension eligibility, and the possibility of overtime. Applications must be submitted by January 15, 2026. The January 13th Reorganization and Regular Scheduled meetings of the Planning Board will be in person at Town Hall located at 10 Robert St. Wharton, NJ 07885 at 7 p.m. The public is invited to attend and participate. 2026 Pet Licenses

Pet Licenses for 2026 are now available. License renewals must be completed before January 31st to avoid late fees. Late fees are $5 per month starting in February. Your pet's rabies shot must be valid through November 1st of 2026 in order to get a 2026 license. If your pet is spayed or neutered the cost is $14 if it is not it is $17. Renewal letters were mailed to you. You can mail in your renewal with a check and your license will be mailed to you or you can come into Town Hall to renew your license.

Wharton is a community of approximately 7,346 residents in the highlands of Morris County. Wharton is located between Routes 15, 46 and 80, stretching south from the main entrance of Picatinny Arsenal, a major army research and development center, to Route 46 abounded on the west by Roxbury Township and the east by Dover and Rockaway Township. The Borough is approximately 2.2 square miles.

Town Hall Office Hours
8:30 AM - 4:30 PM Monday thru Friday

Town Hall is open until 7:30 p.m the second Thursday of the month (except for certain election weeks) and closes at 12:30 p.m. on the second Friday of the month.
