Administrative Assistant – Wharton Borough, Morris County. Wharton Borough is seeking a full-time administrative assistant for 35 hours a week- M-F 8:30-4:30. This position will perform a wide range of clerical, organizational, and customer service duties to support Borough operations and staff. Responsibilities include answering phone calls, assisting residents in person, processing pet licensing, assisting various departments, the creation of the annual town calendar, and performing additional tasks as necessary. Qualifications include excellent communication and customer service skills, the ability to work well with the public in a fast-paced environment, strong organizational skills, and proficiency in software including Microsoft Word and Excel and general computer literacy. This role requires the ability to work tactfully and diplomatically with a diverse range of people including residents, Borough staff, and Borough officials. Experience with Spatial Data Logic, MSI, and Edmunds is helpful, but not necessary. Bilingual (Spanish speaking) abilities are a plus. The salary range for this position is $40,000 to $50,000, commensurate with experience. Bagged Yard Waste pick up begins on Monday, April 7th and runs every Monday, except holidays, until November 24th. Check your calendar for exact dates. Free yard waste bags for Wharton Residents are available at the Recycling Center during their regular hours.
Please note:
- Leaves and grass clippings must be put into paper yard waste bags or a refuse can. No plastic bags are able to be picked up.
- A refuse can may be used only for leaves, grass clippings or small twigs and sticks.
- Leaves and grass are the only acceptable items to be put in paper yard waste bags.
- All brush (branches, bushes and sticks) must be no longer than six feet and tied in bundles that weigh less than fifty pounds.
- No branches or limbs greater than four inches in diameter will be picked up.
- No tree or shrub stumps will be taken.
Curbside pick up of loose leaves begins October 20th & runs through December 5th. There are no set dates for pick up. Please place your leaves at the curb without blocking sidewalks or crosswalks and at least 7ft from any storm drain. Do not put anything other than leaves in the pile.

Wharton will be holding its annual free rabies shot clinic on Saturday, November 8th from 8-10am at the DPW Garage located at 180 W. Central Ave. Waiting lines will be outside so please dress accordingly. The clinic will be offering a 3-year vaccination for both cats and dogs. There will be no animal licensing done at the clinic. Animal licenses for 2026 will need to be renewed in January of 2026.
